Assistance League Antelope Valley is proud to contribute toys for children served by the Department of Children and Family Services this holiday season. ALAV is donating 200 presents to children ages 2 months to 15 years. These photos are just a sampling! Interested in helping? ALAV has donated $25,000 to 250 students from Eastside Union School District (250 students each receiving $100 Target gift cards) for school supplies and clothing. This is happening this week, from Monday through Thursday, Nov. 19. On the first night, the majority of the students along with their parents were buying winter clothing. The Antelope Valley Christian Women’s Club recently dropped off a donation of seven full bags of winter coats for the ALAV winter coat program. Our sincere thanks go out to the Christian Women’s Club!

ALAV members were proud to participate in the recent awareness-raising event, “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes: A Walk for Wellness,” benefiting the Forensic Services Unit. The men who participate are sponsored and walk a mile in red high-heeled shoes. The event, in its second year, was very successful and has grown significantly. ALAV was proud to be represented by a three-member delegation to Assistance League’s National Convention in San Diego Sept. 16-20. Representing ALAV were President Mary Hier; VP Facilities Sandi Murphy and Member Ora Harrison. The National Convention is a re-energizer for the members of Assistance League. Speakers are brought in with uplifting speeches and attendees have the opportunity to network with members of other Assistance League chapters.
